In which I say "yes" to Kame's crazy
Thanks to D-addicts, I was able to watch Kame's newest drama, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge.
... Has anyone seen this, yet?  My thoughts can be summarized thusly:
"Holy Opening Theme Song, Batman!"
"If you were hoping for a more serious version of the manga storyline... turn back now."
"As useful as subs could be, I don't think it'll clear any of this up.  That plothole could mire a spaceship."
"JE crossdressing!  Heck, yeah!"  And,
"Take notes, fangirls.  This is the how-to guide for stalking Kame."

I'm pretty sure subs will be up, like, faster than thought, but I will continue to watch this with or without because, darnit! It's growing on me.

And for my random torrent adventure, also through d-addicts, I started watching OL Nippon.  I'm not sure if subs exist, but you really don't need them.
A company is being outsourced by foriegn countries (or something like that) and so, two young Chinese workers come to Japan to learn the ropes of the company.  Good old language/cultural barriers, women in the workforce and all those other interesting topics.  I'm surprised how much I like this drama, probably because I can empathize with the whole 'trying to get people to understand my bad japanese' thing.  I expected it to be funny, but the drama treats those situations a lot more earnestly than I thought they would.  Still, I think Japanese people are a whole lot more forgiving to white people's broken Japanese than they are to Chinese people's.  Which is kind of the point of the show.  And my roomate's pleased that I am learning new chinese words, even if I can't get her to watch it with me.  I kinda wonder what Chinese people think of this drama.
It's got Minami from Yukan Club, which is a little bit ironic, considering the topic.

I went to work tonight only to get sent home less than two hours after I got there because they couldn't afford to pay me. I have a lot of homework I could be doing, and a test I could be studying for. I decide to screw around with my tablet. I obviously need to find a way to properly allocate my time.

Also a new job.

I have no idea where these pictures came from, but they were damn cute >.>....

I know at least two of us have been bitten by Star Trek fever since the new movie came out, so here's a question I've been thinking about since I discovered that apparently there wasn't going to be a Japanese dub of it and also I can't get the idea of Vulcan!Yamapi out of my head.

Who would you cast for a Japanese version of Star Trek?

I think...er... whatshername, Eri from Last Friends would be a good Uhura. And Massu would probably be adorable as Chekov XD I can't think of a good Kirk, though. Maybe Ryo? Jin?

What do you guys think? Can you tell I'm bored at work?

Oh! And! The cast of Star Trek is now officially connected to the the J-drama world, because apparently Anton Yelchin (Chekov) has a cameo in that "Nakushita Kioku" movie, which also stars Maki, Tego, and L. There was a clip on ontd_startrek a week or two ago, but I'm afraid to go to that comm while I'm at work XDD I'll link it later.

In the vein of uploading
Yeah to Katie, for providing me with yet another season of dramas to waste my time with!  Woot! In that spirit, here's what I've been killing time with on the internet...
Morimoto's Stalker Someone's stalking the Hey!Say!Choir! ... poor kid... this is a pretty interesting news report after the cell phone thief was caught, we learn some great new words and some of the rules for being a Johnny's fan.
way of life PV.  I sometimes forget that V6 is in Johnny's.  Or that they exist.  But this song is starting to grow on me.
PV and Making of Rescue KAT-TUN gets backup chicks!!  And Ueda's pretty happy about it.  The band also tries to use the making to "up their image" with varying amounts of success.  As for the PV itself... It's actually good, and it's been so long since I've seen KATTUN do anything good without an equal amount of suck involved...
Yuuki This was a two-part drama made around 24-hr terebi (I think it was kattun's year) and stars Kame as a young man who gets a desiease where his bones start dissolving.  There's a lot to like... but there's also a lot to cry about, so watcher beware.
Whew!  That was fun!

It seems lately [ do nothing but work and watch concerts... what a great summer!!!
This week's choice was Queen of Pirates, from JPOPSUKI Tracker, and it's the kind of special we've come to expect from them...
Basically, KAT-TUN unwittingly ends the debate of Pirates vs Ninjas... brief summaryCollapse )
Other points of interest:  Random appearance of Yamapi, and mikes that double as fire extinguishers!
Also fro JPOPSUKI tracker is the 2008-2009 countdown!  Only a few months too late.  Kind of a cool thing going on with the main concert at the Dome, Koichi hosting another concert in Osaka, and the two communicating by video streaming.  Looks like the Hey!Say!Choir! is not quite old enough to be out working so late, as they dissapeard partway through the concert and a few reappeared later in the audience.  And Jin does not know the Daitai Seniorita dance. (Isn't that a staple of his agency?)

Long time no see?
So, I have been watching Decade since it started airing...I find it disturbingly addictive. I have also started watching Shinkenger...because I am a loser and I want to hug green.

So, I'm excited:

Also totally unrelated, but Shige seems to have attracted his very own "scandal"

I personally think it's kinda funny (could you tell?)

Oh yeah, try watching The Quiz Show 2
Streaming here I think

I started it last night...it's awesome in it's craziness. Also Sho is hot and Yoko is being a badass psycho...where can you lose?

Dramas Spring 2009
The Winter '09 dramas are winding down, which means it's time to start looking to the Spring '09 season :D Here are some of the ones that look interesting/contain people we know:

Majo Saiban - Ikuta Toma plays a juror in a murder case as Japan tests out a new court system. How fitting that I just finished Apollo Justice yesterday.

Smile - MatsuJun plays someone of mixed race O.o Supposedly it's going to talk about issues of race in Japan, which is great because it's something that needs to be talked about, but, like, couldn't they have gotten someone who was actually half-Filipino? If they just end up painting Jun brown Imma hafta smack a bitch )<

Go Ape - According to the summary, this show is about a high school student randomly mugging a salaryman in a park, and then they spend the rest of the show trying to make each other's lives miserable. On the upside, the high school student is played by Shirota Yu 8D

The Quiz Show 2 - Just... click on the link. The premise is super weird o.O On the other hand, it stars Sho and Yoko, and supposedly Maya Miki will be in it as well :D

Shiroi Haru - Probably no one cares but me, but Endo Yuya's going to be in this drama X3 Along with Abe Hiroshi who is made of badass. The summary looks really chick flick-y though.

Hissatsu Shigotonin has been renewed for for another season, so it's going to continue until June at least XD

And it's not listed on the main page for the show yet, but Zettai Kareshi has a Special coming out X3

Oh, fandom...
So I have some other stuff I've been meaning to put up, but I found something so amusingly illustrative of the differences in JE fandoms that I felt like I had to share it with someone XD;

In case you haven't heard, Ryo got in a car accident a day or two ago (that was his fault, actually). Nothing big, he's fine and one 60-year-old lady suffered a minor neck injury. It was a three-car pileup in the middle of Tokyo, but there were no other injuries. He wasn't drunk or anything. He might get in some minor trouble for not keeping his eyes on the road while he was driving and the jimusho yanked his license for six months.

The funny part to me is the fandoms' reactions:

Kanjani8 fandom: LOLOLOLOLOL *make icons about how Ryo can't drive* XDDDDD

Oh, fandom XD ♥

More general fail from the JE direction
I haven't really been fully keeping up with the weekly shows that I want to keep up with since this semester has decided to beat me up pretty thoroughly...BUT, I have been randomly downloading things. I feel that you guys should check out a couple of them XD

The past two weeks has been a 2 part special on CanJani. I feel the need to reiterate how much I LOVE this show....seriously
So, this tow parter features Yoko and Ohkura in probably one of their most miserable experiences ever. Since the two of them BOTH previously refused to do something for an episode (Ohkura was being a wuss and no wanting to hike with Shingo to look for mushrooms and Yoko pulled a Nakamaru and refused to bungee jump) they were sent for a sort of Batsu Game. They got to spend two days at a Buddhist temple.
So they get two days of meditation, cleaning, and studying.
It is very cold......I mean very cold.
Episode 1
Episode 2: 01 02 03
(Episode 2 is Low Quality and split into parts.....don't ask me why...)

So yeah, you basically come away from this episode with the knowledge that Yoko is tougher than his perm belies and also utterly convinced that Ohkura is a whiny baby....and yet I sill find him utterly adorable.

Arashi no Shukudai Kun:
Because it is Nagase...hanging out with Arashi. This is so worth watching...especially the part where Nino and Aiba get chewed out because they apparently don't show proper respect to their senpai.
Low quality Subbed
Mid Quality RAW
I have not opted to download and watch the subbed fole, so I'm not sure how good it is....

Shukudai Kun Episode 119
Sensei is the guest!!!!!!!! I promise this one was funny, there are some moments that are just...magical. Nino and his Ohno obsession are also revealed. It's quite freakish really....

I think that except for the special, it has been over two months since Ryo actually appeared on this show...but I guess NEWS was touring... Ohkura is kinda in and out as well.
Jani Ben Soecial Episode
The episode itself is not the most amazing thing, but there is a performance at the end. The live is probably one of the most tone deaf performances of Sukiyanen Osaka I have ever heard...but it's mildly amusing. The guys sing their bit and then their guest comes out and sings one of her songs, she's an enka singer, followed by the guys coming back out and singing backup for her. It sounds prety damn good actually O.O

Jani Ben January 8th
Both Ohkura and Ryo are missing here. I'm not entirely positive who the guest is, but she is DAMN cute. Highlight: Shingo and Blondie are about the most adorable things EVER. There is a section where they have to make "purikura faces" at the camera.....utter win. Seriously.

Also, Kamen Rider Decade is SO AWESOME. Really, I think I adore this season already.
Shinkenger also aired this past weekend: Torrent Download for the raw
I am personally waiting until TV NIhon subs it because I am a lazy ass and I don't feel like watching it in the raw until I know if I care or not.

Uh, right.....yay?

I really should be studying for my kanji quiz...
...But instead I bring you a fun link from news_jpop XB

Tego and some other guys come to the 'States to film a variety show! for the great American sport of LOG ROLLING! Hilariously Sadly, the reporter couldn't figure out how to spell Tego's name right.

Anyway, that episode should air in March. That show sounds pretty cool, I might have to check out a few episodes. Because I have so much free time recently (HAHAHA NOT)

Oh, and speaking of Tego, I have a new favorite tabloid couple. From that very same show, actually XD

Dreams are hilarious
I totli had a dream last night where I went to the same high school (yeah, high school) as Mizushima Hiro and Shirota Yu! It was all kinds of high school drama hilarious, especially because Mizushima Hiro took the time to corner me and warn me that Shirota and all those D-boy types couldn't be trusted. In my head Hiro hates D-boys? Dreams are so hilariously awesome sometimes.
